Linda D. Murphy Village Strivers Scholarship

This scholarship was established to honor the memory of a beloved, longtime Morristown, New Jersey resident, Linda D. Murphy, who served as a community leader and educator for many decades.  Through her work as a teacher, principal, director, and non-profit executive, she made a lasting, positive impact enhancing the lives of thousands of students, families, and the community at large. 

Linda’ passion for education and community involvement was an inspiration for the Village Strivers initiative with Empower The Village as she began to play an instrumental role in its development shortly before her passing.  That initiative will provide opportunities for academic enrichment, coaching, tutoring, training, and resources to assist with college and career preparation, as well as jobs for existing and aspiring educators of color.
